About David Morel

I graduated in 2005 from the University of Chicago, with a BSc in Mathematics with honors (specialization in Computer Science). After graduating I worked for three years in my hometown at Cincinnati Financial, one of the largest insurance carriers in the Midwest of the United States. I worked in the actuarial department, pricing insurance products and submitting rate filings to the state departments of insurance. I achieved the title of senior actuarial analyst. In 2009 I moved to Miami, FL where I joined the treaty team of the Latin America & Caribbean division of Willis Re. I have been there ever since, working on pricing reinsurance contracts and performing dynamic reinsurance analysis for clients throughout the region. In 2009 I achieved my associateship in the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS). In 2013 I won the Casualty Actuarial Society’s Reinsurance Prize for my paper on reinsurance pricing. In addition to my work as the consulting actuary for the Miami office of Willis Re, I am developing an insurance product called “Special Needs Insurance”, which would provide supplementary lump sum payouts for conditions such as Down syndrome, cerebral palsy and autism.
