I have been on a long walk in life. The earlier part of my career was data entry at Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh, PA. I had worked there for 10 years but decided that it was time to move on as there was not much for upward movement. I ended up in the retail world starting with Best Buy and worked through all the departments in a supervisory position. After Best Buy had gone through some changes including scaling back, I decided to move on due to lack of upward movement. I had then found employment with Lowes and then on to Petco. After that, I decided it was time for a change of scenery and moved to Tennessee and worked for Rent-A-Center. I worked with Rent-A-Center for several years moving back to PA then down to Florida. Thought it was time to get out of retail and took a shot at something different. I will always remember my interview with UHC as the manager who interviewed me said I was the first person she interviewed that told her things about UHC that she did not know. Always do you homework. That is what gets you the job in the end.( mind you I had no knowledge of healthcare except the very basics at this point ) I started as a phone rep with the small business groups and moved on to large and website support. I cross trained with our HSA team and then came back and learned claims and benefits. After learning that, I moved on to being a Client Service Manager with my own book of business which is the position I am in now. Drive and a will to succeed will get you where you want to go. You just have to grab for it and hold on tight for you never know where it will take you. Adventure awaits for those who are not afraid of it.
