About David Newman

CEO of Maddocks, one of Australia’s fastest-growing corporate law firms with a focus on working closely with clients across key sectors, including education, government, healthcare, infrastructure and technology. We work with a range of private and public organisations, not-for-profits and individuals to help achieve their goals, from establishing and growing a business through to assisting governments deliver on their mandates. Since starting in the law in 1993, I have combined my passion for the law and my clients with a drive to contribute to the greater goals of the firm by taking on leadership roles. In my 20 years at Maddocks I have held a range of leadership positions, including practice team leader, practice group head and several stints on the Maddocks Board. As CEO, my main focus now is building on the success of the firm through a focus on investing in and empowering our people to deliver outstanding client service and innovative ways of delivering those services. Law firms need to be constantly evolving and encouraging our people to constantly examine and improve the way we work with each other and our clients. I have championed both innovation, through my role on the firm’s Innovation Strategy Group, and flexible work practices, through my role as Flexibility Partner. Away from work, Angela and I have four growing children, so most of our spare time is spent between school and kids’ sporting events.
