Background
About David Oberczyk
As a young lad I was always outdoors, even if it was rain or snow (which is usually is in Scotland!). I was never really into school but have always been passionate about how things worked from a mechanical point of view. Always taking things apart and rebuilding them. It started with toys and that lead to cars when I was fortunate to be selected for day release to college where I completed 2 automotive courses, then on to machinery.I bought my first welder at 14 years old with some saved up money. One night I was welding in my mother’s garden shed and the floor started smoking - that was a close call in a wooden shed! Lessons were learned that day.At the weekends I would drive around the fields in scrap cars all day long and raced motocross but that came to an abrupt end when I had a bad accident. That didn’t stop me and I went on to race ATV’s after I was recovered. As I got older, I took up clay pigeon shooting and now shoot most clay pigeon shooting disciplines such as Skeet, DTL, Compak, sporting and sport trap.Nowadays my spare time is spent with my other half, our three dogs Molly, Toby and Sly, family and friends. When the summer nights are here, I often take my Suzuki GSXR out for a run for some 'me' time and take any opportunity to get back to my roots and do the odd mechanic job in my garage. Now that I think about it, I have been in employment since I was 13 years old thanks to my mother convincing the local farmer to let me help at the farm on the weekends, during school “tattie” holidays and through the summer holidays. After leaving school, I picked up work in a sand quarry for a couple of months, still keeping busy on the farm at the weekends! I finally landed my dream job as an apprentice car mechanic where I learned how to work on anything from vintage cars, Japanese performance cars, retro Ford’s, to the daily drivers! That’s a little about me and I look forward to connecting with you and learning more about you.
