About David Olson

David has been involved in the development of quantitative models for over a decade. He is Managing Director and co-founder of Breakwater Investment Group, LLC, a quantitative investment management and advisory firm focused on servicing the institutional investor and high net worth individual market where he is responsible for overseeing operations, researching and upgrading investment management models, tools and strategies, and ensuring compliance with SEC regulations. He is also co-founder and the product developer and programmer for PFA Software, a technology company developing asset/liability management systems for pension plans. Prior to co-founding Breakwater Investment Group, David was one of the founding partners and served as Director of Systems and Operations at Denali Advisors, LLC, where he was responsible for the ongoing quantitative investment management process and headed the compliance and portfolio accounting departments. Denali Advisors grew from a startup in 2001 to managing over $500 million for several pension plans and Indian tribes by the time he left in 2003. He was the original employee and involved in the formation at Haugen Custom Financial Systems as Director of Systems Development where he designed and implemented systems to model and predict stock market performance and provide advanced quantitative investment tools for the money management process and pension industry. His clients were successfully managing over $12 billion using the tools, technology and results that he provided them. David holds an MBA with concentrations in Finance and Management Information Systems from the University of California at Irvine and earned a Bachelor of Science, with Cum Laude honors, in Information and Computer Science from the University of California at Irvine.
