About David Oneill

As Director of Global Supplier Partnerships and Category Management, my role at Flutter is to ensure a cohesive and co-ordinated approach to supplier spend management across our global group. The Procurement function in Flutter is now responsible for the governance of external third party spend of over £5bn per annum across our various business units. My Category Management team work with the regional Procurement teams and stakeholders to optimise value, opportunities and relationships across key categories of spend and suppliers. The team strive to deliver maximum return for Flutter from spend and develop long term strategic partnerships with business-critical suppliers across our regional units. Management of Supplier Risk is also a key element of my role utilising robust frameworks to manage suppliers through the sourcing lifecycle. My previous role in Flutter was Head of Sourcing for Paddy Power Betfair with responsibility for the Sourcing Team supporting our European Commercial operation. My key areas of focus were Marketing, Customer Operations and the high street Retail division. Before that I held a number of senior roles with the DAA / Aer Rianta in Dublin Airport including sixteen years in Retail Management and Organisational Buying, five years in Marketing and three in Finance with relevant business qualifications. • Perceived as an innovative and competent Senior Manager skilled in current best practice management techniques • 10+ years of relevant strategic sourcing experience in a Category Management role with a multinational corporation with global contracts • In-depth experience in best-in-class procurement practices (category management, bench-marking, RFX, end to end contract management, etc.) • Strong negotiator with proven experience in setting negotiation strategies and conducting negotiations • Extensive supply chain experience and knowledge at both theoretical and practical levels • Strong interpersonal skills with extensive experience of managing and motivating professional teams • Comprehensive experience in organisational buying environment • Proven track record of achieving sales budgets and margin targets • Extensive event and project management skills acquired at a practical level • Wide-ranging knowledge of performance management and staff development programmes • Implemented supply chain solutions in SAP and Microsoft Dynamics Nav.
