About David Pfeiffer

Research interests include cell cytoskeleton, cell junctions, and the evolution of intercellular adhesion. Extensive experience in medical education including curriculum development and instruction in the areas of gross anatomy, histology, neuroanatomy, and physiology. Leadership experience in my role as Chair of the Department of Medical Education at the University of Idaho and lead of several curricular blocks in the WWAMI Medical Education Program in Idaho, which is part of the 5-state WWAMI Medical Education Program through the University of Washington School of Medicine. Many years of teaching experience and course development at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the areas of anatomy and physiology, comparative anatomy, developmental biology, cell biology, and general biology. Extensive experience in running program-specific and institution-wide undergraduate research programs, including multiple National Science Foundation-funded REU Programs, an NIH-funded T34 program, a Beckman Scholars Program, and Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship programs. Founder and former director of the Office of Undergraduate Research at the University of Idaho.
