Background
About David Pollard
I am currently a Programming Supervisor at NESN, primarily scheduling SportsNet Pittsburgh, operations of which are now being run out of the offices in Watertown, MA. This is a new role for me in a familiar place, as I spent 9 years in NESN's Traffic department, with my most recently role being Assistant Traffic Manager. In the Traffic department, I was able to learn so much about the industry and tackle challenging projects. Beyond my daily responsibilities of handling all of NESN's commercial copy, in early 2023 I took part in launching Dynamic Ad Insertion (DAI) on the NESN 360 app, leading a core team through education and deadline management, to generate digital SCTEs that call upon an ad server (Spring Serve) to deliver ad campaigns to a streaming audience, creating a new revenue stream from our linear platform. In late 2023, NESN took over the operations of SportsNet Pittsburgh. I led in efforts to launch the Network from a Wide Orbit and trafficking perspective, organizing data transfer, constructing formats, instituting delivery of short and long-form creative, implementing viable Master Control bugs, watermarks and triggers, among many planned or unforeseen checkpoints and hurdles along the way. It was an incredible learning experience that required remarkable effort from everyone at NESN and SNP.In my newest role, I am onto the new challenge of scheduling SportsNet Pittsburgh, while standing up a new 24-7 channel, SNP+. I am also leading the charge on installing WHAT'S ON, a scheduling software new to the company in order to streamline cross-departmental efforts while maximizing efficiencies. In a previous life I was a producer and co-host at ESPN New Hampshire in Nashua for the sports talk show "The Sports Blast", where myself and my co-hosts talked everything New England Sports."The Sports Blast" was picked up by ESPN NH in January of 2014. This was one of the most fun and rewarding experiences of my career. While the station was discontinued in 2017, I had so much fun and made great friends talking about the teams we love.I have covered high school sports in Massachusetts for over a decade for the incomparable Danny Ventura of the Boston Herald. This includes game coverage (live updates on social), and stories (for the paper and the Herald website). I have also contributed to the Herald's High School roundup, accumulating scores and highlights via coach submissions from across the state. It's been incredibly rewarding to work in the sports broadcast industry in the place I grew up.
