Background
About David Powers
I have been a full-time Realtor since I am a licensed salesperson in Maryland, my other team members have licenses in Maryland, Washington D.C, and Virginia. I'm a marathon runner and a photographer (still and video), and I build computers and websites. I love new and old technology. If I'm fortunate enough to live to a healthy 90, as I age, I will make sure that I understand and know how to use modern technology. When I'm much older, I would love teenagers to ask me for advice on their new driverless car or 3D hologram projection wall system. The salespeople I like the best are the ones who attempt to understand my needs, answer my objections, give sound advice, and assist me in making the right decision. I need to feel I can trust that they are working in my best interest. If they gain my trust, I will become a lifelong fan, and they will benefit from lifelong referrals. While being pushy helps pay the mortgage, it doesn't necessarily help refer future business. As for the future, I'm excited about the great opportunities I will have to enlarge my business. The real estate industry is ever-changing. The fundamentals of being a good salesperson will never change, but the most successful salespeople will keep pace with quickly moving economic data, industry trends, and new technology. My keys to running a successful business: Prospect. Act only in the best interest of my clients and customers. Ask for referrals. Know the current economic market data, both locally and nationally. Have a good understanding of where new technology is heading and how the public perceives any new technology. Take as many continuing education training classes as possible. Find more social and business-to-business networking opportunities. Prospect. David Powers, with Long and Foster, Inc.
