About David Pratt

Imagine a world where data science and web development seamlessly intertwine. That's exactly what I set out to achieve when I founded Midnight Mechanism seven years ago. As the founder and leader of this innovative company, I've worked at the forefront of data-driven solutions. Armed with the R programming language, I completed contracts spanning diverse subjects such as osteoporosis treatment, pulmonary rehabilitation, commodity production, bank regulation, property and casualty insurance, quantitative marketing, and forensic accounting. Among my proudest achievements was the identification of a critical flaw in a single line of code, which discredited a 12 million dollar damages claim by instantaneously decreasing it by approximately seven million dollars. These experiences solidified my passion for leveraging data science to drive real-world results. To further and formalize my knowledge in this area, I am currently pursuing a masters in biostatistics at the University of Louisville. To win clients for Midnight Mechanism, I wrote over 500 proposals, resulting in over 30 successfully completed contracts. Over time, I noticed a pattern: contracts starting with a data science premise evolved into predominantly web development projects. To adapt to market forces, I pursued a full stack web development curriculum through App Academy, a hyperselective boot camp with admission rates in the low single digits. After completing thirty-four assessments and building a portfolio of three projects, I am now entering the market as a newly minted full stack developer. I am thrilled to be part of the dynamic, ever-evolving, and evergreen field of software engineering. I look forward to bringing my entrepreneurial energy to your organization, while Midnight Mechanism continues as a profitable side project that keeps my skills sharp.
