About David Pretorius

I am an ATPL helicopter pilot with a passion for flying. Over the past 25 years, I have had the privilege to work with so many amazing individuals and fly in some of the most diverse and demanding environments. I have a strong background in VFR utility operations, IFR, Night VFR, and NVGs. I have flown in eastern Europe, the high arctic to the Gulf of Mexico, from the western Rocky Mountains to the oceans of the east coast of North America, and now the mountainous jungles of the south pacific. I have proficiency and experience with long line ops, class D hoist, off-shore, mountain flying, IFR, night, NVGs, bush operations, firefighting & arctic winter operations. Additionally I have 20 years of training experience (military and commercial) as a Bell medium (205, 212, 412), Bell 407, BK-117, H145D2 & D3 type rating instructor / examiner, simulator operator and check pilot for IFR, Night VFR (including NVGs) and VFR operations. In addition to flying the line, over the past 10 years I have been heavily involved in bringing new aircraft to that line. This includes developing training programs, writing SOPs, checklists and operations manuals. Most recently we successfully completed accepting two brand new Airbus H145D3 aircraft to PNG for EMPNG operations. The adventure continues!
