About David Proud

As a pragmatic, people-centric and versatile senior executive with excellent coaching and mentoring skills, I am passionate about creating engaged, empowered and high performing teams. With 23 years’ experience as Managing Director of VIP Security, which I grew from a single employee to an industry-leading business with 30 staff, I pride myself on my strong relationship building skills, extensive professional networks and willingness to challenge the status quo. The 13 years which I spent as an executive board member with the New Zealand Security Association have given me a comprehensive understanding of a range of governance roles, and two years ago, after selling VIP Security, I embarked on a study break to complete a Master’s of Business Administration degree through Canterbury University. I am known to others as a trusted and credible leader who is a “safe pair of hands’ in a crisis due to my highly developed technical acumen, commercial insight and authentic approach.
