Background
About David Rader
Architectural designer with a passion for improving urban environments. Experience in design, documentation, and detailing through a variety of projects ranging in markets and scales. While employed at the Dallas CityDesign Studio, a public/private partnership founded to advance urban design in Dallas, David gained experience in urban design policy and developed comprehensive design guidelines for protected neighborhoods in Dallas. Following this high-level experience, David dove into architectural practice at HKS, a large architectural firm headquartered in Dallas. David worked on a range of projects in Hospitality, Education, and Mixed-Use development. He developed two primary schools from Schematic Design through Construction Documentation. Recently, David has worked with Metalab Studio in Houston, a multi-disciplinary design firm specializing in public art, product design, and small-scale architectural projects. His experience included design and documentation for custom residential projects, medium scale public projects, and adaptive reuse projects. His time at Metalab allowed David to experience a wide range of scales, project types, client interactions, and design considerations. David is passionate about leadership and investing in others. David co-founded a student mentorship program at UTA's School of Architecture which facilitated engagement between students and architectural professionals. David designed the curriculum, taught weekly sessions, and masterminded networking events at the school. While at Rice, David directed Recess, a student outreach program where architecture students teach lessons to underprivileged youth in a local STEM chapter. David holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Texas at Arlington, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He is currently completing his Masters of Architecture at Rice University, and is expected to graduate in 2019.
