About David Rae

David Rae is a leader, innovator and researcher in University-business engagement and entrepreneurial learning. He worked successfully to develop and embed a new direction for research and innovation in his role as Executive Dean, Research & Knowledge Exchange at Bishop Grosseteste University, Lincoln, United Kingdom, from 2015-17. This followed a period of international experience as the Dean of Shannon School of Business at Cape Breton University, Nova Scotia, Canada. From 2006 to 2014 he was Professor of Business & Enterprise at Lincoln Business School, University of Lincoln, where he played senior roles as Director of Enterprise & Innovation and Head of Postgraduate Programmes. Previously he was Director of Enterprise Development and Head of the Centre for Entrepreneurial Management at The Derbyshire Business School, University of Derby. He gained a PhD in Entrepreneurial Learning from the Nottingham Trent University, and his innovative research has been recognised through numerous publications and awards for research excellence. His pre-academic career included running a management development and consulting business; working in Government responsible for training & enterprise; and in multimedia publishing. An enthusiast for enterprise, his latest book, ‘Opportunity-Centred Entrepreneurship’, was published in 2015. Honoured to receive the European Entrepreneurship Education Award 2020 from the Sten K.
