I am a Human Resources – Business Partner and Deputy Title IX Coordinator for the Pima Community College. In my current position at Pima Community College I serve as point of contact for College leaders and staff who are seeking assistance with issues related to human resource policies and practices. College leaders query me and obtain my direct assistance on issues related to the performance and conduct of their staff. Staff will often query when they perceive they are being treated unfairly. Further, I serve as the Deputy Title IX Coordinator for the employee side of the college. Prior to working at Pima Community College, I was responsible for the operations of the Amphitheater Public School’s Equal Opportunity Office. I investigated and resolved all issues of discrimination brought by the staff and students. Further, I identified the need, created the district’s operating procedures, and trained district administrators in the requirements of the U.S. Department of Education updated regulations related to Title IX of the Educations Amendment Act of 1972. Further, I overhauled the District’s Emergency Response Manual to meet expectations of the Arizona State Department of Education’s initiative for safer schools and to be in compliance with National Incident Management guidelines. Finally, I serve the primary Hearing Officer for all student long-term suspensions and/or expulsions recommendations from the various school principals. I served as the Employment and Education Opportunity Officer (EEO Officer) for the Fairbanks North Star School District, Fairbanks, Alaska. I am responsible for ensuring equal and equitable treatment of all district employees and students as defined by Federal and Alaska laws, as well as district policies and procedures. I was a Special Investigator working for Securitas Critical Infrastructure Services and retained by the National Background Investigations Bureau to conduct background investigations for various federal agencies on federal employees and federal contractors who need as Federal security clearance. I had worked the Federal Government for over 31 years and have just retired from Federal service. I have 22 years with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Of these years I was a Supervisory Investigator for 12 years. Prior to the EEOC I was a Background Investigator with the U.S. Office of Personnel Management for 9 years. I also worked as a Contract Background Investigator on a part time basis for 2 years in the late 1990s.
