About David Saul

David Saul is the Founder and Managing Director of Saul SMSF. Established in September 2007, the firm foresaw the unique value delivered to SMSF Trustees with a truly independent audit. Committed to best practice and supported by a highly competent team of 12, with over 55 years of combined SMSF experience, the firm’s approach is encapsulated in the following quote: At Saul SMSF we don’t view SMSF Trustees as a nameless commodity. To us, each SMSF contains the unique retirement dreams and aspirations of their Members. The independent Auditor plays an important role in protecting their retirement savings. Auditing over $6.4 Bn of SMSF assets in the 2021/2022 year, the firm has been appointed an officer of the NSW Supreme Court, to independently audit an increasing trend of SMSFs challenged by stakeholders. Professionally, David is a Chartered Accountant and Fellow of the SMSF Association of Australia. David was one of the first to achieve the SMSF Specialist Advisor Accreditation from SPAA (now the SMSF Association of Australia). David is also a member of the SMSF Association’s Professional Standards Committee. On a personal level, David originates from Evans Head NSW, is a Queen Scout and the proud father of three sons (Huon, Jack and Flynn). His first passion is commercial fishing, an industry he spent his formative years in. In 2016, David followed his dream to purchase back his father’s trawler and established a new fishing business Yamba Wild which he has been running along-side Saul SMSF. Yamba Wild is focused on the delivery of sustainable seafoods from the NSW wild-caught environment. David is also Secretary for the Catchers Trust (a 50% shareholder of Sydney Fish Market) and has played an important role on Sydney Fish Market’s Leadership Committee – securing the $750 million approval for the building of the New Sydney Fish Market at Blackwattle Bay (due to be completed in 2025).
