About David Scholz

I have an extensive background in education and coaching, and am passionate about the development of young people as I help them to achieve their academic, sport and lifestyle goals. I have a 20 year history of providing leadership in education in both government and independent secondary schools in South Australia. Together with a coaching background that has involved coaching in High Performance environments to working with school teams in a range of sports. I believe in developing a team culture based on positive relationships and communication. In my teaching and coaching I create environments that are competitive to challenge the people I am working with, but most importantly, I ensure that every working environment is supportive to ensure that people are willing to try new skills without fear of failure. I encourage people to leave their comfort zones often to allow them to grow as individuals and make a point of endeavouring to do the same as often as possible. I am committed to undertaking extra-curricular activities and maintaining a program of professional development to ensure I am abreast of developments in education and pastoral care. I also have proven expertise as an administrator of sport and physical education, including staff management, recruitment, internal and external event management, budgets, expenses and reports. I also work as a provisional psychologist in private practice one day a week which compliments the work I do as an educational leader and my work in research as a PhD candidate at the University of Adelaide.
