About David Schultz

I have been in the fire alarm industry since 2008 where I started as a drafter. When the Great Recession happened in 2008 and new work was put on hold, I was given the option to either go home unpaid, or explore a different part of fire alarm world and go into the field assisting the field crew. Being a person who likes to work with their hands and having a technical mindset, I took the opportunity to go into the field with an open mind, and I thrived. I spent the next several years in the field learning install, service, testing and inspections, and programming for both fire alarm as well as fire sprinkler systems. When an opportunity presented itself to move back into the world of design/engineering around 2014 I took it. I owned my role as a design/engineer. I learned and designed new systems like access control, security cameras, intrusion systems. Took the knowledge that I gained from the field and applied it to my designs. I even worked my way up to become a fire design supervisor at a local office for an international company. I remained in fire alarm design/engineering world until early 2022 when an opportunity to move from design/engineering into sales as a sales engineer was made available. I entered the world of sales with a lot of technical knowledge but little sales knowledge. With proper mentoring and coaching I learned what it took to become a sales professional. I also learned how to best assist and work with my fellow sales executives by using the technical knowledge that I learned through my years in the field and design and apply them to proposals and takeoff drawings. In 2023 an opportunity presented itself that would allow me to enter the world of consulting. I am excited to put all the skills that I have learned through my career into use to become the best consultant I can, and to support my clients to the best of my abilities. I have been a part of some amazing projects ranging from tenant improvements, residential high-rises, core & shell business high-rises, campus mass notification systems, schools, data centers, and government work. I have discovered that I enjoy the code aspect of my industry. I liked learning about the products, programming them, and troubleshooting, but the "why" things are done the way they are intrigues me most and the main driver for me to learn code. I am involved with AFAA, current president of the local fire alarm association, and I am NICET IV in Fire Alarm Systems.
