About David Shane

I currently teach science and mathematics to logic and rhetoric school students at Cedar Classical Academy, a classical school in Lansing, Michigan. Before becoming a teacher here, I served on the board of directors of this same institution. Prior to this, I spent a decade teaching physics and integrated science at Lansing Community College. I was program chair of the Physical Sciences program, which encompassed Physics, Astronomy, Geology, Geography, and Integrated Science. I was involved in several science-related outreach and student organization activities, most notably mentoring our FIRST Robotics Team and Physics and Engineering Club, as well as helping with Science Olympiad, STEMFest, and other activities. I also won College Science Teacher of the Year from the Michigan Science Teachers Association during my time here. Prior to LCC, I attended graduate school at Washington University in St. Louis, with a dissertation involving the NMR study of borohydrides. I also do a fair amount of writing, and have been published by The Chalkboard Review, The Detroit News, The Federalist, Michigan Enjoyer, The Physics Teacher, and Physics World.
