About David Sojka

In the civil engineering, world my biggest interesting is transportation design. I feel that you have a real impact on the way a community functions and you put out a product that people actually see and use. However, I used to work in the Nuclear industry under various roles in Design Engineering, including being the hoisting equipment subject matter expert, supporting Security-related modifications, and completing decommission work. I currently work as a civil design engineer with the Energy Production & Nuclear Decommissioning group at OPPD, mostly supporting fossil plants and new constructions as a Project Manager. Previously at Fort Calhoun Nuclear Station, I have had experience analyzing and designing seismic pipe supports and anchors. I am capable of interpreting complex structural drawings and isometrics. I am also familiar with nuclear piping codes B31.1, B31.7, and ASME section I have been involved with seismic scaffolding inspections and rigging design. I completed SQUG Seismic Screening and Walkdown training to become knowledgeable in pursuit of Seismic Capability Engineer certification (est. My personal interests include music, songwriting, snowboarding, camping, hiking, disc golfing, Halloween, and videogames among other things. I also consider myself a self-proclaimed beer snob and love trying new and different breweries around the Midwest. I have real passion for playing and making music, being a guitar player myself for over 20 years. I'm always on a the pursuit to being a better writer/producer. I have experience using SONAR/Cakewalk recording software and using Native Instruments sample libraries. Music is forever an ongoing creative process.
