About David Stalling

David Stalling is a composer, sound artist and audio producer working with various media: acoustic and electronic sound; field recordings, moving image, lighting, and scientific data. He has performed and collaborated with many artists and musicians in a diversity of contexts. David also designs and makes custom contact transducers and hydrophones for music performance, sound design and field recording. Recent projects include a collaboration with seismologists Professor Sergei Lebedev and Dr Maria Tsekhmistrenko at the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies and the University of Cambridge, developing novel tools for the audification of seismic events; an immersive audio-visual installation for the exhibition Aerial/Sparks at Galway 2020 European Capital of Culture; a soundtrack for Alice Maher and Aideen Barry's film 6SKIN, with screenings in Ireland, Canada, USA and UK; audiovisual work with artist Siobhan McDonald presented at Science Gallery Dublin, Deutsches Hygienemuseum, Dresden, and the Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art at Pepperdine University, Malibu; a soundtrack for EL Putnam and Mike McCormack’s film An Invitation. Currently on show at the Museum of Literature Ireland (MoLI) in Dublin is all these words, an immersive audiovisual experience of Samuel Beckett’s enigmatic masterpiece, The Unnamable (until April 2023). Forthcoming projects include a series of sound works based on seismic events for the Sedgwick Museum of Earth Sciences, Cambridge UK (2023/2024). Stalling is represented by the Contemporary Music Centre Ireland and his work is published with Farpoint Recordings.
