About David Stevens

I am a medical and health technology specialist working at the intersection of research, strategy, and clinical application. With a PhD in neuroscience, I spent 10 years in academic research across universities and institutes, focusing on sleep, exercise/respiratory physiology, and neurology. During that time, I published over 40 peer-reviewed papers and secured more than $1.6 million in competitive research funding. I was also fortunate to be involved in several university–industry partnerships, which exposed me to skills and knowledge that I now apply in my current role as Head of Medical and Research at NeuroFlex. My role at NeuroFlex has allowed me to continue engaging in research and fostering university–industry collaborations, while also gaining experience in the commercial side of the health technology sector. Since joining in 2021, I have helped the company grow from a startup to one with a global presence. In addition to my role at NeuroFlex, I serve on the Flinders University Human Research Ethics Committee, which keeps me closely engaged with the regulatory and ethical frameworks governing research in Australia. I’m interested in how research can inform clinical practice, how technology can be scaled responsibly, and how teams can work better across disciplines.
