About David Szymanski

Dr. David M. Szymanski serves as Dean of the Hankamer School of Business at Baylor University, where he leads efforts to advance academic excellence, foster innovation, and prepare students for purposeful leadership in a rapidly changing business landscape. He is committed to strengthening Baylor’s mission-driven approach to business education by enhancing student success, expanding faculty impact, and building partnerships that connect the school to industry and community needs. Prior to Baylor, Dr. Szymanski held senior leadership roles including President of the University of North Florida, where he oversaw a successful institutional transformation, and Dean of the Lindner College of Business at the University of Cincinnati, where he elevated the school to national prominence. He has also served as CEO of UNF MedNexus, held the JCPenney Chair of Retailing Studies at Texas A&M University, and contributed as a board member for several public companies. A first-generation college graduate, accomplished professor of marketing, and nationally recognized scholar, he brings more than 30 years of experience in higher education leadership, governance, and research.
