About David Tarpenning
For more than two decades, I taught in the Gaylord College at the University of Oklahoma. It was an incredible ride and an experience I'll never forget. It grows your brain, your patience and your tolerance level. And it's never monotonous because every student comes with a different set of rules of engagement! I still love teaching. Ideally, in the third iteration of my life, I want to teach young minds to learn but with enough free time to enjoy writing; exercising my imagination by telling stories, keeping my research skills sharp by writing historical non-fiction. I borrowed my philosophy of life from the poet / activist Maya Angelou (1928-2014). She wrote:"My mission in life is not to survive but to thrive and to do so with passion, compassion, humor and style." That's a great way to keep moving ahead, laughing frequently, and staying productive.
