About David Templeton

Owner and working Director of SCP Consulting Pty Ltd. We specialise in civil, structural, hydraulics and building services. We have offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Darwin. We have around 50 staff, all of whom are highly experienced in their respective disciplines. They are the backbone of SCP and are highly valued for the work they do and their commitment to their role and SCP. As well as a company Director, I also lead and manage the structural engineering team. We pride ourselves on producing design and documentation for projects that is economical and practical to build as well as on the cutting edge of technology such as BIM. Structural Engineering is both a science and an art. University teaches the science bit, and I spend a lot of time training my junior engineers the art of engineering. My structural team are my second family and the way we look after each other is reflected in the number of staff that have been with us for a long time. As an owner of the company my jatz crackers are on the line everyday, so I and my partners (all of whom are also structural engineers) make sure that the designs we produce work and can be built safely and economically. A surgeon holds the life of just one person in their hands at any one time, often for only a few hours. A structural engineer can hold the lives of thousands in their hands with a building that may be used for 100 years or more. Engineering is about solving problems, its as simple as that. Whether it be a technical, cost or construction problem, it is what we do everyday and I instill this mantra in all my engineers.
