About David Tetlow

Having a real passion for Engineering, Renewable Energy, and Sustainability I have been working within the UK's R&D project development & delivery landscape for the last 15 years in range of mechanical and electrical engineering based projects in the academic, public, and private sectors. Applying formal project management methodologies in my work, I’m able to combine strong strategic planning with hands-on project delivery to ensure operations run like a well-oiled machine. I’m methodical, disciplined and logical, able to keep calm when the pressure is on. I quickly identify patterns and trends, which means I can usually identify and resolve problems before they escalate, keeping projects on track. Although the nature of each project varies, typically I’m involved in: Leading projects involving multi-disciplinary stakeholders, delivering against targets of funding bodies. Meeting core strategic needs, identifying innovative solutions which support business. Establishing and meeting SMART objectives, both personally and for the project team. Ensuring regulatory compliance within the built environment, including Health & Safety. Bringing together teams with complimentary skills to optimise results. Managing budgets, creating details cost breakdown in order to maintain financial control. Project delivery is always a team effort. However, there are a number of philosophies I stand by which I believe play their part in my personal contribution: When things don’t work properly, maintain the attitude that there is always a solution. In order to change things for the better, sometimes you have to rock the boat. Successful project delivery is reliant on strong ideas, a great team and outstanding communication. Do what’s right for the organisation, not necessarily what’s easy. I am actively always exploring new research projects as well as the opportunity to work on a consultancy basis, helping companies to successfully deliver government/investor-funded projects.
