About David Tham

David is the founding director of award winning consultancy StudioNorm Design Consultants. He oversees the daily operations, ensures its profitability and holds a stake in the creative direction of projects. In his capacity at StudioNorm, David has served as lead consultant on numerous projects from concept, design to tender and construction phases valued in excess of SGD75 million dollars. He also established the company’s in-house label ‘normform’ which distributes across the hospitality industry and beyond in diverse landings. Formed in 2008 with its head office in Singapore, StudioNorm has defined itself as a design consultancy focused on the hospitality industry dedicated to create bespoke pieces of furniture, furnishings and interior architecture. The company has been endorsed by the government and recognized by the industry being the inaugural recipient of the Young Entrepreneurship Startup Fund award in 2008, receiving the Top SME Achiever Award in 2014, SG 50 Prestige Enterprise Award in 2016, Best Hospitality Design Firm at the Singapore Business Awards 2017, conferred as a Leading Hospitality Designer in Singapore by Lux Asia Magazine in 2018, the Golden Pin Award in 2019 and the coveted LIV Hospitality Design Awards in 2024. David was a Spirit of Enterprise award and President’s Design award nominee and is named in Tatler’s Top 50 Influential Designer in Singapore. David also serves on various judging panels locally and around the region and currently serves as an Executive Committee member with the Design Business Chamber Singapore. Possessing a keen passion to teach and nurture the next generation of design successors, David has been contributing to the educational sector since 2008, lecturing at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Temasek Polytechnic Design School and University of the Arts Singapore.
