About David Thorpe

David is a leader of transformational change in digital services. Motivated by broad and ambitious goals, he is adept in defining strategies and delivering in complex environments by building a collaborative culture to execute across functions. Prior to moving to Auckland in 2021, David has led teams in London and Singapore for global organisations including Standard Chartered Bank and J.P. Morgan. Having started his career as a product manager over 15 years ago, he has a deep passion for helping to solve clients’ most important problems with creative technology solutions to drive lasting change. Most recently in Singapore, David founded and led a strategic programme to address regulatory and sanction risks arising from potential payment data gaps. This complex and high-profile risk management programme was delivered in full, on schedule and recognised as ‘best in class’. Thriving in a pressured environment with exacting stakeholders, he brings a conscientious partnership-based approach to ensure delivery is done right. Previously, David led teams delivering online, mobile, API and platform-based services for global clients. He defined strategic roadmaps and was responsible for significant investment spend. His ability to bring teams together, to motivate and retain focus on shared goals has enabled him to bring the best out of colleagues and convert opportunities into results across a variety of products and segments. David holds graduate degrees in business administration and philosophy. He loves sailing, rugby and exploring new places, so is very happy to now be in New Zealand.
