About David Tibbs

With over 30 years experience in the planning and delivery of architectural services I bring a passion, professionalism and fresh creativity to all projects. Creativity is important and is at the heart of my approach. This extends beyond design and includes the workplace where the latest Building Information Modelling (BIM) software and management techniques are employed to ensure your project is delivered to the highest professional standards. Using BIM and other visualisation software allows informed decisions to be made from the outset of your project by using fully constructed and intelligent 3D model representations. With a passion for low energy design, and as a Certified European Passivhaus Designer, I have been responsible for several innovative projects such as the first rented Passivhaus Accredited House for social rent in the UK, master planning the Award winning Housing Innovation Showcase 2012 and, recently, 30 Passivhaus homes for rent in Fife. I also enjoy working with traditional buildings, valuing the importance of understanding the historical and cultural relevance of a particular building or place. Working with B Listed buildings in Scotland and Grade II* Listed Buildings in England I understand how to work with and respect traditional construction, to conserve buildings and to get the best from them whether in a sympathetic traditional style or by introducing a contrasting contemporary element. A large part of my ethos is focusing on the client and their needs, relating to and listening to them so that they can live, work or play in, and be inspired by, the spaces that are created for them.
