About David Tice

I am a Criminal law prosecutor. As a member of the cybercrime and cryptocurrency prosecution team I prosecute and advise police services across Ontario on cyber-enabled fraud investigations, hacking and ransomware attacks and cryptocurrency seizures - the first dedicted team in Canada. As part of MAG’s Complex Prosecution Bureau I am at the forefront of the most challenging cases focussed on Ontarions safety. I am a leader in our hiring and recruitment of students as part of the Complex Prosecution Bureau’s Student Recruitment Committee. I represent the Province in the courtroom as a selected member of the MAG Abuse of Process response team, assisting Crown Attorney Offices across the Province. I also have a passion for teaching and legal writing, recently joining Queens’ Law School faculty, teaching Advanced Criminal Law. I have published in peer reviewed journals. I have specialized experience in search and seizure law, being at the forefront of litigation related to confidential informer privilege and being a Crown School course director in the subject matter. My expertise has been recognized as a member of the MAG Search Experts Group and a witetap agent. I have 15 years experience as a frontline trial Crown, taking on challenging prosecutions from homicides, firearms and violent offences, child exploitation and human trafficking. Prior to my life as a prosecutor, I began my law career working as an associate lawyer with Eddie Greenspan, one of Canada’s greatest criminal defence lawyers. It was a great honour to appear on many trials, at the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada next to Mr. Greenspan.
