I am passionate about helping people to achieve their full potential so I am using my experience to mentor startups and provide life coaching on a volunteer basis. I cover strategy development, preparing a great pitch, using agile and lean methods for efficient execution, leadership and management skills (focussed on challenges of rapid growth), personal time management and priority setting. Engagements have included a social network for gamers with opponent matching, agricultural telematics and a social venture. As a business and technology leader, I have built and motivated teams to achieve results in product innovation, software architecture, financial performance and operating efficiencies. My experience spans building a software engineering team from scratch in an Internet startup to successful acquisition and transition to a world-class team as a division of a Fortune 50 company. Building on strong academic roots teaching Computer Science I have progressed through large-scale architecture design and deployment, consumer product development for millions, B2B applications and interfaces. I place a strong emphasis on building a modular platform with quality built-in from the start to provide resilience in facing new challenges. I have led the full business unit, responsible for P&L, launched major new products and significantly improved margins. In business operations, my mark has been strong and efficient execution in complex environments. I build innovative business systems using tools, processes and procedures always with a pragmatic eye focussed on delivering predictable results.
