About David Tyson

I originally trained in Audio Engineering at MAINZ and have since built experience working in live sound and band recording environments. In 2015, I joined Futureworks as they set up a Christchurch team to deliver a major AV upgrade contract for the University of Canterbury. My role covered all aspects of the project lifecycle — from physical installation and system configuration, to commissioning, testing, site management, and client liaison.Since October 2017, I’ve been contracting as an AV Technician. This has allowed me to work across diverse environments, including large-scale corporate meeting rooms, lecture theatres, educational institutions, and hospitality sound systems. I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to work with a wide range of products, solutions, and some of the industry’s best people and brands. As a contractor, I’ve been responsible for managing projects on site, completing installations, commissioning systems, and delivering finished solutions to clients. I also have solid experience in servicing and troubleshooting AV systems. My strengths include attention to detail, coordinating jobs effectively, thorough documentation, and providing a high standard of installation with a professional, client-focused approach.I’m currently changing direction somewhat by studying Environmental Management and Law at the University of Otago. I’m open to work opportunities in some capacity alongside my studies — please feel free to reach out if you’d like to connect!
