I am a medical graduate and healthcare leader. My major interest has remained Chronic disease burden and the effect on aging (geriatric) population. Over the past 8 years, I have worked as a general practitioner (Nigeria), where I have had the responsibility of taking clinical history from patients, diagnosing and ordering investigations, documenting medical reports, counseling patients, organizing literature reviews for certain clinical topics, developing standard operating protocols, setting intravenous access, providing technical assistance by phone calls and email follow up of patients, assisting in general surgical procedures, suturing open wounds, triaging in the emergency room, recording patients details using Electronic Medical Records. My recent experience in Canada as an associate physician, have helped me to solidify my understanding of the dynamics I healthcare in Canada. I also worked as a Healthcare administrator, where I have also shown my ability to lead. My leadership experience extends to my student days. In 2014, I functioned as the president of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Medical Students Association and also as the director of Advocacy for South East Pacnet in 2015. Currently, I am a member of the Rotary club of Edmonton where I function in the Sergeant at arms committee and also in the Youth exchange committee. I understand the importance of diagnosing certain non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, or Kidney injuries early enough to prevent deaths and debilitating complications. I am passionate about providing geriatric patients, fertility as a GP, developing standard operating protocols for seamless interactions with patients, and maintaining healthcare stability in cases of public health emergencies. Some of my noteworthy achievements in my past roles include; 1) Member Lagos state COVID-19 isolation center doctors team where I worked actively for about 3 months in the heat of the epidemic. I transitioned to also assist the Private organizations such as Reddington hospital when the burden became heavy for the government. 2) Participated in developing standard operating protocols for the management of burns and Loss of consciousness to help the seamless running of our emergency room. 3) Facilitated training that helps students to know about first-aid practices.
