Hello, my name is David van Beek and I hereby welcome you to my linkedin profile. I've worked my entire carrier in retail, the dynamics and the complexity have always fascinated me. When i was seventeen years old I was promoted to a junior management position and learned the first basics of management. Once I got my master degree in business economics I pursued a job in retail for my next steps in management. I was given the opportunity to become a trainee at V&D, that was located as a middle market department store in The Netherlands. After just one year I was promoted to store manager in Ede. Here I learned the basics of retail and more management skills as I meanwhile also finished my traineeship. After two succesfull years as store manager I gradually was promoted to work in our biggest department store in Utrecht (team of +/- 400 employees, sqm, 4 million visitors a year). After 8 years working within operations, I was promoted to Manager Operational Services. In that position I gathered experience in all the retail processes that take place in the head quarter and became an allround retail manager with both experience in operations and staff processes. I'm a result driven leader that communicates in an open, straight forward manner and have a strong focus on coaching. By making sure that there is a strong believe in the mission and everyone knows what has to be done to reach the collective goals, an environment is created where the collective goals are being achieved and each team member is coached to reach the best of their potential. I like to work in a fast, dynamic and complex environment, where there is a focus on short and long term goals.
