About David Vavrek

Originally started my career owning a family business as a consultant in the rail car construction industry. As the economy changed so did my career. I had an excellent opportunity to enter the drinking water industry and have loved it. I started with Utilities Inc. in Cedar Lake, IN, a small family owned business with 900 service connections, as a maintenance person working my way to Office Manager/Operator in Charge. Utilities Inc. was dynamic business only have a few employees, we handled customer service, billing, IDEM regulations and compliance, utility budget, preparation for Board meetings and working to make a small family owned business thrive. Utilities, Inc. closed June 2009 due to a sale of the utility. I started with the Village of Park Forest, Illinois in Feb 2010 as a water treatment plant operator learning all aspects of a lime-soda ash softening water treatment plant. I knew I wanted to achieve more with my position within the Village. In addition to my Indiana licensing and my Illinois Class C license, I obtained my Illinois Class A drinking water license. I was promoted to Assistant Chief Water Plant Operator in May 2013 and was promoted to Chief Water Plant Operator late June 2014. In August 2021 I decided it was time to continue to grow and push myself with new challenges and opportunities. I made the leap and joined the team at Baxter & Woodman. Continuing to assist municipalities with their water needs ranging from ROIN assistance to overseeing construction of water and sewer projects.
