About David W. Hicks

David founded Hicks & Associates CPAs on October 1, 2011. He has over 30 years of professional experience and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF), Certified Fraud Examiner,(CFE), and Charter Global Management Accountant (CGMA). Previously, David was a partner at a Lexington accounting firm for 13 years and responsible for managing approximately 110-125 attest engagements each year. Prior to joining that firm, David was a senior auditor with a regional firm responsible for representing the U.S. Office of Inspector General (OIG) on multiple audits and investigations throughout the U.S. for the departments of HHS, EPA, USDA, DOL, DOT, DOA and ARC. David started his professional career at Humana corporate headquarters in the tax department and tax accountant at a firm in Louisville. His past experience includes expert witness litigation cases, financial, performance, compliance and internal control audits and other attest and consulting engagements on various organizations. He has also prepared income tax returns for a variety of organizations during this period. He is currently a volunteer among 50 members of the Peer Review Alliance Committee which oversees seven states peer review process of over 2,400 CPA firms, including the Kentucky peer review process.
