About David Weinberger

As Director of Grantmaking at Main Street America, I lead a talented team working to re-energize downtowns and neighborhood commercial districts through community-focused grantmaking. I oversee the strategy, operations, and growth of our programs, collaborating with funders to advance place-based solutions that reflect the needs and strengths of local communities. Throughout my career, I've focused on aligning philanthropy with community-led change. At ioby, I helped neighborhood leaders access funding and tools to bring their ideas to life. At DonorsChoose, I managed partnerships with companies and foundations to deliver critical resources directly into public school classrooms in historically underserved areas. My work to date has lived at the intersection of philanthropy, community-building, and equity. I hold a BA in Political Science and Public Policy from Macaulay Honors College at CUNY Hunter, and a Master of Science in City and Regional Planning from Pratt Institute.
