About David Wells

I have worked in the Insurance Industry my entire working life. I fell into the Industry - as most of us did. I commenced as a trainee in a General Insurance call centre (APIA) in early 2001, moving to a Customer Service/Sales role, then Team Leader. After 7 years there, I moved into a Domestic Adjusting role with Cunningham Lindsey. That role saw me develop my skills further over 5 years, with prompt exposure to catastrophe claims including bushfire, cyclone and flood. I then spent ~6 years in an Loss Adjuster role with QBE, managing Commercial and Domestic claims. This role carried more responsibility, managing claims from first contact to determining policy liability & claim settlement/completion. The role also included secondments into other areas of the business when required, including coaching less experienced claims staff & supporting the Major Loss team with processing claims in times of heavy workloads, and auditing repairs following catastrophes. I commenced a new role with Sedgwick as Senior Loss Adjuster in July 2020. In July 2021, I was promoted to the Major & Complex Loss team. In August 2022, I commenced as Executive Loss Adjuster with Technical Assessing. I have a wealth of experience in lodging, handling, assessing & settling a wide range of domestic, rural and commercial property claims. I have attended several catastrophe's & visited all corners of Australia in the process. While my specialty is large & complex property claims, I am available to assist with any rural, domestic, or commercial claim including ISR, Contract Works and Liability. I am experienced in complex, multi-million dollar commercial claims for Fire and Storm damage including building, contents, stock & plant damage with under-insurance, reinsurance, business interruption and components. I am passionate about returning customers to their pre-loss situation as soon as, and as easily as possible. I take pride in my relationships with customers, brokers, clients, colleagues and suppliers & enjoy building a friendly but professional rapport. I'm comfortable & reliable in any work environment, having worked in large corporate offices through to autonomous WFH (even before COVID-19 made it cool!)
