About David Wilmoth

David Wilmoth is Founder and Director of Learning Cities International Pty Ltd, an advisory and project management company for education and urban development, which in 16 years has worked in over 30 countries. He was previously Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Dean of Environmental Design and Construction and now Emeritus Professor at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) where he led international programs including as founding CEO for RMIT International University Vietnam, RMIT International and RMIT Malaysia. His professional experience is in start-up and financing of new educational institutions and in managing urban growth; for the latter with government executive responsibilities for the metropolitan planning and infrastructure coordination of Sydney, regional planning for southern New South Wales, national urban and regional policy for Australia and, as adviser and consultant, a number of education and urban development projects in Australia, Botswana, China, India, Iran, Malaysia, Philippines, PNG, USA, Vietnam and elsewhere. He is chair of the Academic Board of Sydney Metropolitan Institute of Technology and of the Supervisory Board of the Mekong Delta Research and Conservancy Foundation, Vietnam. He was chair of the governing board of the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School and the Academic Board of Torrens University Australia. He was a Director and CEO of Monash College Pty Ltd, a director and chair of AFS Intercultural Programs Australia, and is a director of the Australia-Vietnam Education Promotion Association and Global Urban Development. He was a Director of the International Safe Systems Institute for Road Safety, Asia Injury Prevention Foundation, and a number of other companies. He has been Consultant Adviser to the Metropolis Association and the International Finance Corporation. He has degrees in economics and planning from the Universities of Queensland, Sydney, and California at Berkeley, where his doctoral work was on national urban policy.
