About David Wilson

David Wilson has spent 25 years coaching football from the High School ranks, to the highest level of Division I College Football, to the Professional level collecting one NCAA National Championship, One Southeastern Conference Division Championship, One Atlantic Coast Conference Championship and One Florida State High School Championship along the way. Currently he enters his second year as the Director of Player Personnel for the AFL’s Tampa Bay Storm. Wilson served as Special Teams Coach and Recruiting Coordinator for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets appearing in 4 straight Bowl Games. His recruitment of such players as Calvin Johnson and Deshard Choice greatly aided to the success of GT. Wilson joined the Georgia Tech staff after 5 years with Coach Jackie Sherrill at Mississippi State where he served as the Director of Football Operations for 3 seasons and 2 as the Recruiting Coordinator and Tight Ends coach. During his time there, the Bulldogs were S.E.C. Western Division Champs in 1998 and played in the Cotton, Peach and Independence Bowls. He also served two one year stints at Florida State University working for Coach Bobby Bowden during the 1996 and 1992 seasons. The Seminoles finished ranked 2nd in the nation both seasons he was on the staff, participating in the 1993 Orange Bowl and the 1997 Sugar Bowl. Wilson has also made coaching stops at Nicholls State, where he served as the Assistant Head Coach and at Troy State from 1983 to 1985 where he was part of the 1984 Division II National Championship team. He played at Troy State as well during the mid 1970’s where his team won the Gulf South Conference Championship in 1976. Wilson spent 8 years coaching High School football in Pensacola and Ft. Walton Beach, Florida where he coached players such as, Derrick Brooks, Danny Wuerffel, E.G. Greene and many more dedicated players that made all his success possible.
