About Davide Arfini

I am a Technician B in Industrial Fermentation R&D at Corbion, working in the Strain Development team to improve microbial strains and fermentation processes for sustainable production of food ingredients. My work supports process optimization and innovation, translating cutting edge microbiology into scalable industrial solutions. I hold an MSc in Molecular Biology and Genetics (cum laude) from the University of Pavia, where my thesis explored the cytotoxic effects of the p31-43 peptide on human enteric glial cells, providing new insights into the molecular basis of celiac disease. I previously worked as a Research Fellow at the University of Bologna, investigating novel anticancer strategies targeting mitochondrial metabolism and epigenetic regulators, and contributed to Pseudomonas putida strain engineering and enzyme discovery at Leiden University. Beyond the lab, I have experience as a tutor for scientific laboratory courses, mentoring students through hands on experiments and strengthening their understanding of molecular biology techniques. I am passionate about applied research, cross functional collaboration, and knowledge sharing, and I thrive in environments where science drives real world impact.
