About Davide Barbato

Ph.D. student at uc3m (Universidad Carlos de Madrid) working on a research project on so-called common ownership in the banking Eurosystem and in oligopolistic markets. He worked as Trainee under art. 73 at the Court of Appeal of Rome (civil area) and at the Studio Legale Prof. Avv. Lucio Ghia. He finished, in 2025, a postgrade LLM (Master of 2° level) in Competition and Innovation Law at the LUISS School of Law (Rome) where he defended a thesis entitled "Common ownership in the banking Eurosystem. Antitrust profiles of the MPS Risk" with a final grade of 110 on 110 (GPA 29.3 on 30). He defended an experimental thesis jointly supervised by the University of Salerno (Italy) and the Universidad Carlos de Madrid (Spain) entitled "Antitrust Profiles of the DSA and DMA Regulations. The Position of Gatekeepers in the Market". He served as the Group Leader for Italian delegations first in Romania and subsequently in Ukraine for projects related to international law and human rights funded by the EU. From September 2022 to February 2023, he conducted thesis research at the Universidad Carlos de Madrid under the supervision of Prof. Cesar A. Giner Parreño. At the aforementioned university, he was a finalist as a defense attorney in a procedural simulation for the Labor Procedural Law course and a redactor to the university magazine PRISMA UC3M in the "Security and International Conflicts" section. He previously worked as a didactic Tutor at the University of Salerno for courses in Private Law Institutions and Philosophy of Law. Already eligible for the PhD course "Law, Market and Person"(XL° cycle) at the Ca' Foscari University of Venice. In July 2025, he was admitted to the PhD program in Law at Universidad Carlos de Madrid with a research project on the antitrust profiles of so-called Common Ownership. Cultore della Materia (Commercial Law) at the Guglielmo Marconi University (Rome). He has participated as a speaker in various European and international seminars, receiving several honorary recognitions. He is a member of the Scuola Giuridica Salernitana, with which he publishes case notes for "Un Anno di Sentenze (Giappichelli Publishing) and where he also completed an advanced legal training course taught by President A. Valitutti. He has been actively involved in both university and local volunteerism and associations. He speaks English and Spanish fluently.
