About Davut Akca

I'm an Assistant Professor in the Criminology program at Lakehead University's Orillia campus, with a diverse background in law enforcement and academia. My career began in 2008 after graduating from the Turkish Police Academy, where I served as Deputy Inspector and Inspector for the Turkish National Police for five years. I then pivoted to academia, earning an M.A. in Criminology from Ontario Tech University. My master's research focused on mapping open-air drug markets using GIS and Risk Terrain Modeling, exploring the spatial dynamics of risk factors influencing these markets. Furthering my academic journey, I completed a Ph.D. in Forensic Psychology at Ontario Tech University, where my doctoral research investigated the impact of individual differences on Investigative Interviewing effectiveness and training. Most recently, I served as a Post-Doctoral Research Officer at the Centre for Forensic Behavioural Science and Justice Studies at the University of Saskatchewan, enriching my research experience and academic contributions. Additionally, I am a Credentialed Evaluator certified by the Canadian Evaluation Society, which underscores my commitment to excellence in evaluation within the academic and professional realms.
