About Dawn Jutla

Dawn Jutla is the polymath Founder and co-CEO of Peer Ledger and Full Professorr of Technology Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Sobey School of Business in Canada. Peer Ledger is the maker of the MIMOSI CONNECT Near-Real Time ESG Traceability Platform with major customers in minerals and metals. She is also the founder and founding Director of the Master of Technology Entrepreneurship (MTEI) Program, established in 2013, at the Sobey School of Business. Under her leadership and authorship, within a year the program was approved (2012), a near record for a university program. In the capacity of its founding Director, she stood up the Sobey MTEI program in the marketplace on January 3, 2013 within 25 days of the university receiving its Maritimes Provinces Higher Education Council (MPHEC) approval. The MTEI program proposal has become a template for subsequent Master program development at Saint Mary's University. She holds Master and PhD degrees in Computer Science from the Technical University of Nova Scotia - Dalhousie University. Her 1996 PhD work in Computer Science on the topic of multi-view access control has been cited in Xerox and IBM US patents, and she holds two USPTO patents in the areas of responsible supply chains and blockchain identity. Dr. Jutla is the 2009 recipient of the World Technology Award for IT Software in the Individual Category. Dawn has technical expertise in software architecture, distributed systems, transaction processing, privacy management, e-commerce business models, and business and tech strategy. Solidly straddling two disparate disciplines, Dawn is the co-author of e-Business Readiness: A Customer-Focused Framework. She brings 25 years+ experience in the IT industry and in Business, academic administration experience, experience in IT Sales, a record of R&D, breadth and depth in business and technology courses, international and local business Board governance experience, and a genuine interest in the well-being of her students and Peer Ledger employees' contribution to the Atlantic Canada economy. Dawn served for 6 years on the Saint Mary’s Board of Governors, and 2 years as FISMS Department Chair. She served on the Board of US-headquartered OASIS Open Standards Organization for 6 years between 2012 and 2018. She also served on the Board of the IWK Health Centre for 3 years.
