About Dawn P.

I am now the newest Behavioral Health Learning Specialist at the Jewish Board! As a member of the Organizational Development team, I assist with planning and creating trainings for staff. Prior to rejoining the Jewish Board, I served as a Child and Family Specialist with New York City’s Administration for Children’s Services. I worked in three different divisions as a CFS, interfacing with children, families and programs at different points of ACS involvement. I conducted child safety conferences, provided best practice coaching to contracted prevention programs and conducted assessments of youth in foster care in compliance with the Family First Prevention Services Act. Before my time at ACS I served as the Co-Director of the Education Advocacy Project at Lawyers for Children, Inc, a nonprofit representing youth involved in the Family Court system, where I specialized in assisting clients in obtaining education support services. I began my social work career with the Jewish Board as an intern with the agency’s Clinical Anti-Racism Program in partnership with New York University Silver School of Social Work and worked as a therapist at the Greenberg/Manhattan YCL outpatient clinic after obtaining my MSW degree. I have over a decade of experience working with children and families involved in, and affected by, interactions with ACS, utilizing a trauma informed and anti-oppressive lens in my practice.
