About Dawn Wilson

As a teacher, I have worked with many age levels and reading levels. For years, I taught second grade and seventh grade English and literature students in a classroom setting. My classrooms were immersed with educational achievements and filled with the power of language. My seventh grade students were involved in Racism Free, a pen-pal program that connects inner-city students with their suburban peers. I coached the school’s Power of the Pen team and headed the Young Author’s Conference. I coached Odysseys of the Mind teams in Centerville as well. I was the director of McFarlane Middle School’s Drama Club, the cheerleading advisor and the school newspaper coordinator. Two of my students were awarded the distinguished Paul Laurence Dunbar Award for poetry. I have also worked as an instructor for the PACE program which targets inner-city youth, and as an adjunct faculty member at Miami University, Wilmington College, Wilberforce University, Sinclair Community College and Wright State University.I have more than 25 years of experience as the Artistic Director of the Centre for Dance and Movement in which I choreographed and produced full-length ballets including Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Hansel and Gretel, among others. Furthermore, I have experience as a director, choreographer and producer of theater productions throughout the greater Dayton and Cincinnati areas including Children’s theater and community theater. I have trained more than 100 state, regional and national dancers and have former students dancing professionally throughout the US.
