About Dawson McDaniel

Hi! I'm Dawson McDaniel. I studied journalism with a focus in public relations at the University of North Texas and graduated magna cum laude in the Spring of 2024. Throughout my time at UNT, I learned a plethora of skills to use in a professional work environment. I have practiced videography and photography skills, become more fluent with Adobe Creative Suite, and more. I know how to write fluently in AP Style, have honed my "people skills", and can create news/press releases and social media content at a fast pace. I am determined and will get through a task no matter how difficult and I work well with other people. I'm very much a team player and will get all of my work in on time, no matter what I need to do to make this happen. Though I do not have any professional public relations experience or internships at this time, this does not make my skills any less handy. I would love to intern and work at a company that allows me to express my skills and provide the content it needs. I dream of working my way up in a company and am a strong believer in longevity in the workplace. I would love to practice these skills in a fast-paced workplace. I would also like to grow my interviewing skills, practice focusing on one task at a time, and work on public speaking more than I currently have. I'd love to develop my interview skills through real-life experience, hone my writing skills to improve the speed at which I can complete tasks, and perfect the practice of prioritizing one assignment over others. I bring several values to the public relations profession that employers will find useful. I am easy to talk to, will get my work done efficiently and on time, and enjoy working with a team around me. Being a team player is a big part of public relations, and I look forward to bringing my talents to a workplace that challenges and expands my knowledge of the field.
