About Dayalis Brown
My name is Dayalis, but everyone knows me as Day. I’m currently finishing my doctoral degree in chemistry at Portland State University. In my time as a graduate teaching assistant, I have taught honors, regular, and introductory general chemistry laboratories. From tutoring to mentorship, I dedicate my time to providing services and resources to undergraduate students. Retaining underrepresented individuals in STEM is my passion, as diversification and education can help confront environmental issues in their communities. With my experience in electrochemical alternative fuel production, I have an understanding of renewable energy, climate change, and sustainability. I want to enthuse students towards pursuing green chemistry research and education to mitigate imminent environmental consequences.
