About Dayanara Monzon

My name is Dayanara Monzon. As a junior at the University of Rhode Island, I focus on making connections and networks that allow me to connect with individuals interested in similar fields to gain wisdom and knowledge of the law enforcement field. I strive to work with anti-trafficking agencies to combat human trafficking and educate others on the topic. Previously, I have worked alongside an anti-human trafficking organization that has helped me better understand the issues and teaching methods. Simultaneously, I could spend time with survivors and learn from them and their experiences. After working for the International Network of Hearts, I was able to work at the South Kingston Police Department as a community service officer to learn about the law enforcement aspect. Being part of this environment truly made me understand the impact law enforcement can have on a community when it is done properly. Serving the community while working with the officers opened my mind to the importance of establishing healthy relationships with law enforcement and how it can prevent discrimination and prejudice. I hope to use my experiences as stepping stones to work for anti-human trafficking agencies and implement new ways to combat this issue and educate others.
