I never expected to be a mother, but here I am—with the most rewarding and challenging role of my life. My “full-time boss” recently promoted me to “best mommy in the whole world,” a title I’ll always treasure. Life, much like motherhood, isn’t neat—it’s messy, imperfect, and full of twists and turns. My own career path has been anything but linear. I planned to be an attorney but found my passion in government affairs. Along the way, I’ve worked for trade associations, a legislative software company, taught college courses, and now advocate for housing and financial issues. Motherhood has enriched my career in unexpected ways: • Teacher: I simplify complex ideas, making information accessible to diverse audiences. • Anticipator: Parenting has taught me to think ahead, addressing questions before they’re asked. • Problem Solver: I tackle challenges with curiosity, breaking down obstacles to find solutions. • Storyteller: Whether it’s story time with my child or explaining legislation, I captivate and engage with relatable narratives. This journey has sharpened my communication skills, strategic thinking, and leadership. Life may be messy, but it’s in those imperfections that we grow, excel, and find purpose.
